Before & After the Long Weekend

How We Lose Our Minds, Find Our Peace, and Remember What Actually Matters.”**

If you want to know the truth about long weekends…
not the Instagram version, not the “I’m so blessed” nonsense…
I’m talking about the real before and after —
the full human rollercoaster —
then keep reading.

Welcome to the Ace-Style Breakdown.

THE BEFORE:

“The Great National Panic Attack”

Let’s be honest:
The Thursday before a long weekend hits and suddenly we all start acting like we’re preparing for a hurricane.

People at work running around like,
“Let me finish 47 things before I rest for 48 hours.”

Bosses turn into drill sergeants.
Employees turn into escape artists.
Everyone’s pretending like the world might actually end if they don’t send that “per my last email” reply before 5:00 PM.

And inside?
Inside we’re all saying the same thing:

“If I can just make it to Friday… I swear I’ll relax like a professional.”

We plan the long weekend like it’s vacation in the Bahamas:

  • Sleep in

  • Relax

  • Family time

  • Maybe a little BBQ

  • Maybe a little NOTHING

  • Maybe a little “I need to remember what happiness feels like”

We hype it up so much we make it sound like 72 hours is enough to heal childhood trauma, fix our marriage, and catch up on seven years of sleep.

Spoiler:..................... It’s not.

But hey…
we still believe.
We are hopeful creatures.

THE LONG WEEKEND:

“The Beautiful Chaos”

You know how this goes.

Day 1:
You wake up with big plans — “Today I rest.”
Then somehow…
you’re at Costco, stuck behind 200 people with carts full of apocalypse supplies.

Day 2:
You finally sit down to relax…
and instantly remember all the things you didn’t do this week.

Day 3:
Now you’re in full denial.
“Monday doesn’t count. It’s basically still Sunday. Time is fake.”

You’re laughing, you’re eating, you’re hanging with your family, you’re taking deep breaths you haven’t taken in months.
And for a moment…
life feels simple again.

The long weekend is magic like that.
It slows the noise.
It softens the edges.
It forces the world to quiet down long enough for you to actually hear your own thoughts.

And the best part?

You remember what matters:

  • Family

  • Health

  • Peace

  • Gratitude

  • The little moments you rush past during the week

You even start thinking:
“Damn… maybe I should live like this more often.”

THE AFTER:

“The Great Return to Reality”

Then Monday hits.

The alarm clock rings like it has beef with you.
Your body says, “No thank you.”
And your brain says, “We didn’t agree to this.”

You walk into work looking like you just came back from battle.
Emails overflowing.
People asking questions.
Life comes flying back at you like a baseball at 110 mph.

But something inside you is different.

Because deep down…
you remember how good it felt to breathe.
To laugh.
To eat slowly.
To be present.
To hold your kid.
To love your spouse.
To hear yourself think.
To be thankful for the life you already have.

And now —
now you walk into the week with a little more patience.
A little more appreciation.
A little more perspective.
And maybe… just maybe…
a little more joy.

THE POINT OF THIS WHOLE THING?

**Slow down.

Be thankful.
Be present.
The long weekend isn’t the gift… YOU ARE.**

Life is flying by.
Jobs come and go.
Bills never stop.
Stress never sleeps.

But moments?
Moments are sacred.
Family is sacred.
Your peace… that’s gold.

You don’t need a long weekend to enjoy your life.
You need awareness.
You need gratitude.
You need to pause more often and say:

“Thank G-D for what I have.”

So yes — enjoy the long weekends.
Laugh at the chaos.
Cherish the calm.
Be thankful for every blessing — big and small.

But don’t wait for the calendar to tell you when you’re allowed to breathe again.

You deserve joy today.
You deserve presence today.
You deserve peace today.

Last Thought…

Slow down Killer
The world isn’t going anywhere.
But your moments? Those don’t wait.

Breathe deeper.
Laugh harder.
Love louder.
And be thankful every single day — not just the long ones. Ace :)
